Rand McNally Classroom Atlases
In 2015, after a brand refresh, I was given
Rand McNally's classroom atlases to update.
I designed brand new covers, layouts, and created new illustrations for the interior.
When completed, I prepared the files for print and checked the proofs.
This was one of my first, big print projects as I was switching from animation to design.
I learned so much and am forever grateful for the opportunity.
Covers and Interiors
The new designs needed to be bright, colorful, and present the information clearly. One of the biggest tasks in designing this book was updating the illustration on the geographical terms page.
The original illustration was a gouache painting. The original scan had been lost to time and the old images on file were not print quality. I took the grainy image of the original painting and recreated it in Adobe Illustrator. This allowed for easy future updates to the image and made it simpler to scale.
